STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

Hailing from a family that has always supported me to study and pursue my dreams, I have completed my Bachelors (B.Tech.) in Mechanical Engineering. My father, who is operating a business, has played a pivotal role in building my interest in the field of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). My mother, on the other hand, has been the one who has taught me to remain grounded and be humble.

Since childhood, I have been curious about how these machines and mechanisms work. My curiosity led me to ask questions and actively seek out the answers. From my curiosity, learning a practical and powerful approach has given me a keen interest in dealing with complex technical issues.

I’ve consistently excelled in my studies where I’ve been a topper throughout my academics. Beginning with my 10th Grade where I scored a CGPA of 9.5 to my bachelors where I bettered my performance to 9.86 CGPA. I completed my studies from eminent institutions including my Bachelors (B.Tech.) in Mechanical Engineering from Anurag Group of Institutions, Hyderabad, India. The college is ranked 3rd among the ‘Best Infrastructure & Research Institutes’ in 2019.

I interned with the National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) over a 6-week intense training on Refrigeration & Air-Conditioning, Welding, and Non-destructive Testing. Then, I interned with Bevcon Wayors, where I worked on designing shafts and bearings for vibrating screen. Moreover, I took up another internship with Venkateshwara CNC Technics during my diploma course for a month, where I was actively involved in the Design and Engineering Department projects related to manufacturing Aero Profiles and Moulds..

Apart from internships, I worked on various projects including ‘Investigation on Controllable Cutting Parameters during Dry Machining of Hastelloy C276’ while in the 3rd year of my diploma. Another project I worked on was ‘Experimental Investigation of Basalt reinforced polymer matrix composite reinforced with SIC particles’. These projects further triggered my curiosity to scientifically investigate more such processes with advanced techniques, and I realized I had found my calling, Mechanical engineering had become a passion, and there was no looking back.

I have acquired various technical skills like AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Catia, Ansys and Programming languages like C. Apart from these, I have got skills in Microsoft word, excel, PowerPoint. I have also got skills in Machining and Welding Tools such as CNCs, mills, lathes, angle grinders, plasma cutters, oxy-acetylene torches, arc welders, band saws, grinders, shears, drill presses, etc.

During my bachelors, I expanded my knowledge in designing drones, and as a result of my passion, got a place in the national-level workshop on Drones and Quadcopters, a prestigious position for which every student at the institute tries their best to achieve. Besides, I was also a member of American Society of Mechanical Engg. (ASME).

After doing enough research and talking to my friends and family settled abroad, I was convinced that Germany is the right choice for me. It is one of the most progressive nations in the world both, culturally and technologically. Many of the innovations to engineering studies were a contribution of the country’s researchers. In Germany, it’s easy to find extremely warm and welcoming people who come from varied ethnic groups with different cultures and lifestyle. The multicultural environment in Germany promotes friendliness and peaceful living like no other country. In fact, you get to find a lot of Indians studying, working and living here. It feels like a home away from home.

The Master of Science in Computational Mechanics of Materials and Structures will be a major step to reduce the gap between where I am and where I want to be. I want to focus on strengthening my technical skills and this program will give me the tools, skills, networking opportunities and most importantly the exposure to a world-class infrastructure I need to follow my ambition. The program at the University of Stuttgart will allow me to learn under the guidance of expert professors and to compete with international students. Such exposure will prepare me to meet the challenges in the real world. The university has always been at the forefront of producing exceptional research and practical learning and therefore, is the right choice for me.

Once I complete my masters, I intend to pursue my education further by going for a Doctorate program in the same field. The ultimate goal is to work as a professor with a prestigious institution and spreading the knowledge. I’ve always enjoyed teaching and am quite passionate about becoming an educator. While there are many engineering colleges in India, there’s a need for more highly qualified professors in the field of Computational Mechanics. Hence, I want to come back to India, fully equipped to play an important role in shaping the talent of tomorrow.

I sincerely believe that my excellence in studies and skills, accompanied by the stimulating environment at the University of Stuttgart and the supervision of its illustrious faculty, would amplify my learning process and allow me to add value as a professional.
