Foundation Field and Seminar I Log of Professional Experiences in the Field

The field log provides a concrete means for the student to:

1. Account for professional activity in the field placement;
2. Demonstrate professional development related to contracted learning experiences and the traditional-year competencies;
3. Reflect on professional growth and development;
4. Provide information that facilitates dialogue between the student and Field Supervisor;
5. Document for the Field Supervisor, concerns, dilemmas and issues as they arise in the agency setting.

Students will complete logs using the format provided below. Logs are expected to be no more than 2 pages in length (double-spaced). Due dates are noted in the syllabus and on canvas. Logs must be signed by the Agency Field supervisor. Every log submitted by the student should reflect a unique experience with the client system context and provide an example of professional development.

The reported activities account for cumulative total 200+ hours.

Describe one professional activity that you engaged in this week at the Field agency (2-page maximum—please be very specific in your description/reflection). Respond to the following prompts: 

1. Describe the context(s) of the experience. This week at my field placement I was able to engage in three activity that contributed to my learning progress of the program. However, the one activity that I really enjoy Completing was the agency-specific orientation training. This training consisted of detail information about the SCSEP (Senior Employment program). 
2. In what way was the experience a strength/challenge for you? The online training on the SCSEP program was a strength for me because as a social work student it is my professional responsibility to be knowledgeable in all areas of practice and policy that governs an organization or agency program. This training was a strength because I was able to enhance my knowledge around the Senior program. Upon reflection, what I gain from the training will be useful when I start doing individual case work.
